Learning a new area is always scary but, also can be fun and exciting.
I decided that I didn't want to spend a lot of money on eating out, so off to Walmart I went to buy groceries. It also helps that I am staying in a suite hotel where there is a little kitchenette.
I have been cooking and taking lunch to work all week. Oddly enough I am losing weight as a side product of not eating out every meal 3 times a day.
I managed to get 1.5 miles in on the treadmill this week as well. I could have done more but I just don't have the energy. Trying to get back into the swing of getting up and going to work at the same time everyday. I haven't had to get up quite this early in several years.
So on Thursday I decided that I wanted to try one of the restaurants out by my hotel. One that isn't located in Arkansas and one that I haven't had before. So I picked Smokey Bones, after researching their menu online and seeing that they had sweet tea (because as a girl from the south that is important). So off I went based on this picture of their menu, I couldn't wait to try their food and drinks.

When I got there the server was great. She took a few minutes to get to me but made sure to touch base with me and let me know she would be right with me. This is important to people who have been in the service industry to at least be acknowledged, even if your server is busy.
So I ordered water while I checked out the drink specials. They really didn't have anything that stood out to me. But I went ahead and ordered a drink that I had to have altered due to it having Mango in it and I am allergic. But the server and the bartender were understanding and made the change without to much fuss. I ordered the ShipWRECKED of course minus the mango. It was a really good drink. I will definitely go back to order this drink or even try a different drink out on their menu. As there were plenty to pick from without feeling overwhelmed with the selection.

Then it was onto the food. I ordered a steak (sirloin), broccoli, fried green tomatoes, and a salad. I was not impressed with the food. The sirloin had a lot of fat on it and that is not something that should be on a sirloin, the broccoli was supposed to be steamed but it was crunchy instead of soft, the fried green tomatoes were saturated in oil/grease as if they dropped them to cook when the oil/grease wasn't hot enough. when i pulled the small (total of mini 4 slices) apart the insides were still doughy with flour. They did not have a good taste. By the time I was finished eating what I could eat I just wasn't thrilled about the meal.
But even having said all of this I will go back and try some more of the drinks and also I will want to try out the delicious looking desserts.
The weather was nice this week, having no humidity is taking some getting used to as my face and hair are drying out from it. So I am on the hunt for a new shampoo and conditioner and I am using more body lotions than ever before.
I was able to get to work from the hotel on the second day by myself without the GPS. This is a BIG deal for me. I may have celebrated a little to myself.
But this is my exploring for the first week. More to come as the weeks go by.
Thanks for joining me on this journey.
